Art

A student at LCAD had done a beautiful painting of her sisters Golden Retriever and it was hanging in one of the display cases on campus.
Which got me thinking...I wanted someone to paint Bogey. I had NO idea what the process was in having a student commissioned to paint something. I didn't know what they would charge or the timing, or if they would even be interested in painting something for me. I approached this particular student to see if it was something that she would be interested in doing, she said she would do it for $600.
I love Bogey, but not for $600

Well, one of my co-workers knew that I was upset that this was not going to work out and offered to do the portrait for me. I love how it turned out and its now hanging in our Family Room.
Now if I could only afford to have Farley and Cassie painted. :)

Bogey is 9 yrs old and has a gray face...he's an old man. I wanted a portrait of him in his prime, his younger days...no gray....

At his finest

The old man, posing with his portrait...he wasn't in the mood to be photographed!

As most of you know...the Farr Household revolves around the Dogs!!
Bogey, Cassie and Farley...
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
We have always had dogs in our house. Before Tyler and I, there was Jeb, a yellow lab...and as far as my Mom was concerned she didn't need children, she was happy with Dogs!
Then there was Sadie, a Golden Retriever.
After Sadie there were Abby and Cheeky (Brother and Sister Yellow Labs)

In 2000, my Mom and I flew up to PDX to pick up Bogey. My Uncle's Dental hygentists had a beautiful Golden Retriever who was having puppies. We had to have one and flew up to the Northwest and came home with Bogey.

He is Beautiful...He is Smart...
He is a total pain in the neck.
He must be touched at all times, and if you wont touch him, then he'll stand or lay next to you so in some way he is being touched. He pouts and pretends to ignore you when he knows we are leaving.

He'll do just about anything you ask of him...Speak, Sit, Shake and lay down.
He is a protector...the first to be by my side, if I am sick.

He'll sit in the pool for hours with sunglasses on, as long as he knows all attention his on him. He likes people to think he's the boss, however I don't think he would ever hurt anyone.

Cassie...We bought/Rescued her from the Ghetto....
She was such a Cute Puppy...
She never fully grew into her body...she has a little pin head, hairy toes and is "slightly" over weight. Despite her "unique" qualities...we love her!!
She makes very un-lady like noises...she snores, she grunts, she snorts.
She is as sweet as can be, and is not an attention whore, like Bogey.
She LOVES her squeaky toys and
we LOVE her!

In 2004, our CRAZY next door neighbors(at the time), had a Golden Retriever, who happened to be in heat and snuck into our backyard and strutted her stuff for Bogey and got Pregnant. The Good News was she was a Pure Bread Golden and we got pick of the litter.
Welcome Farley, son of Bogey...

He is a
LOVER. He is Beautiful. He is Smart just like his Dad.
He loves the pool and swimming, even in the middle of winter...crazy dog!

He loves to pretend he is a prairie dog. He has a few gay tendencies...he wiggles when he runs!
He will always greet you with a toy in his mouth.
He has the softest, lightest hair...but sheds a whole lot. More than the other 2 dogs combined.

He is Tyler's dog, however we get partial custody of him
FATHER and SON!

All 3 dogs are so different, but so GREAT!!
Life with out them would be boring and lonely.
They live to please and their
love is unconditional
LOVE...LOVE...LOVE
I now understand why my mom wanted only dogs...
I think I am on the same page...for now at least!
:)

I would LOVE to rescue our next dog, and would love "it" to be a smaller/lap dog!
I would love a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
(Charlotte from SATC's dog "Elizabeth Taylor")

I would also LOVE to get a long haired Dachshund / Rooloo.
Until then...3 is enough!
